San Juan County is pleased to present the monthly series County Compass: Navigating Civic Participation that shares ways to understand County systems, get involved with local government, and be an informed resident.

San Juan County is pleased to publish the 2024-2025 Budget in Brief, posted in tandem with the 24/25 biennial budget. We took the 500+ page budget book and condensed it into 12 pages! Rich with graphics, photos, and expenditure highlights, the Budget in Brief provides a quick overview of the County’s complex and numerous revenue and expenditure funds, as well as the key initiatives and community services, funded by the $280.1 million budget.

Reading the budget is a great way to get to know the County and learn what projects are in store for 2024-2025. The 12-page Budget in Brief is divided into six major topics that highlight themes throughout the full County budget book:

  • Partnering for Change
  • Community Enrichment
  • Access for All
  • Planning for a Changing World
  • Stewarding Island Resources
  • Sustaining a Resilient Workforce

“The 2024-2025 Biennial Budget is a balanced budget predicated on a cautious but optimistic outlook on the Island economy,” writes County Manager Mike Thomas.
