SAN JUAN COUNTY, WA. June 13, 2024 – San Juan County's Conservation Land Bank is excited to partner with Alchemy Art Center for a series of free painting sessions that connect artists with nature. Led by Alchemy Art Center co-directors, Maria Michaelson or Glenn Hendrick, these free, two-hour painting sessions will take place from 9am to 11am on various Fridays over the months of July, August, and September. These unique events provide an opportunity for participants of all skill levels to create artworks inspired by our Islands’ landscapes.

- July 19, 2024: Mount Grant Preserve, San Juan Island
- August 2, 2024: Deadman Bay Preserve, San Juan Island
- August 16, 2024: Zylstra Lake Preserve, San Juan Island
- September 6, 2024: Turtleback Mountain Preserve, Orcas Island
What to Expect:
- Guided Painting: Each session will be led by Maria Michaelson or Glenn Hendrick who will provide step-by-step guidance.
- Natural Inspiration: Participants will enjoy inspiration from the vibrant flora and diverse wildlife.
- Materials: Alchemy will have some supplies on hand (notebooks, watercolor pencils) however, participants are encouraged to bring any materials (paper, paint, drawing supplies, easels, etc) that they are excited to work with. - Relaxing Atmosphere: Enjoy a peaceful and supportive environment, perfect for both beginner and experienced painters.

- What to Bring: We recommend bringing a hat, sunscreen, water bottle, snack, and a portable chair or blanket for your comfort.
- Weather: In case of inclement weather, sessions will be cancelled. Registered participants will be notified by email.
