Volunteer Opportunities

Interested in Becoming a Volunteer?
Do you want to help keep our parks open for years to come? San Juan County Parks is seeking volunteers to help out in your beautiful county parks. Help us keep a favorite park open by being a camp host during the summer season, assisting with grounds maintenance, litter pick-up, monitoring park activities, public information and outreach, park interpretation, data entry, or special projects.

A variety of volunteer opportunities are available. You bring your enthusiasm, we provide guidance, support, and an incredible work setting! If you'd like to help us look after a County park on your island, email us, please put volunteer as the subject line, or call the Parks Administration office at 360-378-8420. Volunteer Positions to be filled:

San Juan Island

  • Eagle Cove Day Park Lead Volunteer - Schedules Volunteers, Monitors Activity
  • Eagle Cove Day Park Volunteers - Monitoring 1x/week (reports observations, activities, etc)
  • Eagle Cove Day Park Volunteer - Litter Pick-up (reports tasks completed, observations, findings, etc)
  • Turn Point Day Park Lead Volunteer - Schedules volunteers, Monitors Activity
  • Turn Point Day Park Volunteers - monitoring 1x/week (reports observations, activities, etc)
  • Turn Point Day Park Volunteers - Litter Pick-up (reports tasks completed, observations, findings, etc)
  • San Juan County Park Volunteers - Various projects are available at San Juan County Park throughout the year, please contact our volunteer department for more information.

Lopez Island

  • Agate Beach Day Park Volunteers - Litter Pick-up, Monitoring 1x/week (reports observations, activities, etc)
  • Mud Bay Beach Day Park Volunteers - Monitoring 1x/week (reports observations, activities, etc)
  • Otis Perkins Day Park Volunteers - Monitoring 1x/week (reports observations, activities, etc)
  • Blackie Brady Day Park Volunteers - Monitoring 1x/week (reports observations, activities, etc)
  • Shark Reef Day Park Volunteers - Monitoring 1x/week (reports observations, activities, etc)
  • Odlin County Park Volunteers - Various projects available at Odlin County Park throughout the year, please contact parks office for more information.

Orcas Island

  • Eastsound Waterfront Day Park Volunteers - Monitoring 1x/week (reports observations, activities, etc)
  • Eastsound Waterfront Day Park Volunteers - Event Monitor (as needed, on-call)
  • Eastsound Village Green Day Park Volunteers - Monitoring 1x/week (reports observations, activities)

Shaw Island

  • Shaw County Park Volunteers - Various projects are available at Shaw County Park throughout the year, please contact the volunteer coordinator for more information.

Service Projects

Other opportunities exist for individuals or groups to conduct volunteer service projects within our parks. Such projects may involve trail construction, carpentry, or other maintenance projects to enhance park properties or facilities. Often, the work can be tailored to fit your group.
